40th St. water main replacement project
6/26/2026 UPDATE:
We aren’t quite on the home stretch yet, but we are getting close. Next week, the contractor will install services on the odd addresses (east) side of the street. Once services are installed, the contractor will pressure test and disinfect the new line. As always, if there are any questions, please feel free to ask.
6/12/2026 UPDATE:
The contractor made it to the intersection of 40th Street and Adams yesterday. They will move on to installing services on Monday and Tuesday. They are scheduled to close the intersection of 40th and Adams Streets on Wednesday, the 17th, to excavate the water main connection point on Adams Street. There will be a tentative scheduled water outage on Thursday, the 18th. The connection point in Adams is incredibly complicated due to an 8” high-pressure, critical natural gas line and a large diameter storm drain main line. I will send out another update on Wednesday, the 17th, after we locate all of the utilities and have a better estimate on the outage duration.

6/5/2026 UPDATE:
The contractor has 1300 feet of new 12-inch water line installed. They are about 200 feet south of the intersection of Adams Street and E 40th. Next week, the contractor plans to install the main line as close to the intersection as they can, without affecting traffic. They will then fall back and start installing new water services.

5/15/2026 UPDATE:
Today, the contractor is setting a 10”x12” ductile iron cross (2-10” ends and 2-12” ends) and a few lengths of these blue pipes into 40th Street.”

As construction progresses along 40th St, road closures will follow—but don’t worry, local access will remain open.
