Work without a permit may result in discontinuance of utility services to the subject location, an infraction with a fine of up to $100, and double the permit fees.  Persons or companies found doing work without a permit more than twice in a calendar year may be subject to a misdemeanor and may be prohibited from doing work within Garden City limits for a year.
 
Emergency work requires a permit.  If the emergency occurs on the weekend or after hours a permit must be pulled within one working day.
