Work within the Regulatory Floodplain or Floodway

 Floodplain:

The land in the floodplain within a community subject to a one percent (1%) or greater chance of flooding in any given year. For purposes of these regulations, the term "special flood hazard area" is synonymous in meaning with the phrase "area of special flood hazard."

Floodway:

The channel of a river or other watercourse and the adjacent land areas that must be reserved in order to discharge the base flood without cumulatively increasing the water surface elevation more than a designated height.

Prior to doing work within the floodplain or the floodway, including placement of any structure or fill placement or removal please submit the Flood Plain/Floodway Development Application Form located at this Link.  The form includes the required documentation based on the type of work that you are proposing.  The cost is:

  1.      Work under an acre in the floodplain: $262
  2.      Work 1-10 acres  in the floodplain: $500
  3.      Work more than 10 acres the floodplain: $750
  4.      Work within or relocating the floodway $1,694

+ $150/ hour for engineering review.
