Garden City Dog Licensing

All jurisdictions within Ada County require dogs to have and wear a dog license. Failure to license or to renew your dog’s license could result in a citation, monetary fine, and court fees.  Garden City requires that all dogs over the age of 6 months, which are owned, harbored, or possessed within the City limits have current Garden City dog tags, even if there is a valid license from another jurisdiction.

Dog licenses may be purchased at Garden City city hall, 6015 Glenwood, Garden City, ID 83714.  The license year runs one year from the date of registration and must be renewed every year.  Dog owners may choose to prepay licenses for one, two, or three years.  We encourage pet owners to also microchip their animals.  For additional information call 208-472-2909.

You may have up to three (3) dogs per household without obtaining a kennel license, available at Garden City city hall, 6015 Glenwood.

Cats are considered free-roaming animals in Garden City and do not require a license.

Call the Garden City Police Department at 208-472-2950 to report barking dogs, dogs at large/lost, animal cruelty, and/or neglect.

If you are missing an animal, please check the Garden City Police Department's Facebook page, Homeward Bound Shelter & Rescue, the Idaho Humane Society's website, or Treasure Valley missing/found/spotted pets!'s Facebook Page, among many others.
